What are Optional Line Items?
Line Items on a quote can be designated as "optional;" when they are, customers can select the line items they want to be included in their "finalized" quote. Additionally, the subtotal for your quote will only reflect the prices for required products and will update as your customer changes their optional selections.
If your quote requires e-signature and/or payment, these options will be hidden until the customer has made their optional selections and finalized the quote.
How do I add Optional Line Items to a quote?
quote•hapily adds an "Optional?" property to line items. You'll need to add this property to the Quote Builder Line Item table:
- Sign in to quote•hapily: https://app.quote.hapily.com
- Go to Settings > General
- Click on the Line Items Columns tab
- Check the box next to "Optional?" and adjust the position of the column as necessary.
Once added, sales reps will be able to check the box for any line items they want to be made optional.
Note: Bundles cannot be made optional at this time.
What is the customer experience?

First, customers will see "Optional Quote Items" separated from the rest of your required line items. The "Grand total" for the quote will reflect the price of required line items and any optional line items that have been checked.
Finalizing a quote
Any quote with optional line items will need to be "finalized" before it can be signed, paid, or downloaded. When the user clicks "Finalize Quote," quote•hapily starts a process of updating the quote to remove any optional line items that were not selected, and then updating the selected optional line items to indicate that they are included on the final quote.
The Quote Finalization process may take 15-30 seconds.
While the Quote Finalization process is running, quote•hapily will display a progress bar letting the user know what's happening.
Once the process is complete, the page will refresh and the user will be able to sign, pay, and/or download the quote.
